My name is Austin McAfee and I am photojournalist for Fox 5 – Atlanta. My day job is what you see on the news; everyday I go out with a reporter to shoot video and edit our story under various tight deadlines to put on that evening’s newscast. Although I shoot video everyday, my background is in still photography. I graduated from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in 2013 with a degree in Journalism (Broadcast) and spent a majority of my time working for the school paper, The Daily Mississippian, along with being a freelancer for the Associated Press.
Prior to coming to Atlanta, I worked for the CBS affiliate, KWTX, in Waco, Texas where I was apart of the AP & Emmy winning “Baylor Gameday, ” a one-hour pregame show on Fox Sports Southwest before every home football game. Later I moved to Memphis to work for the NBC affiliate, WMC.
In still photography, I freelance for Cal Sport Media and Icon Sportswire. Dating back to college with the AP, I have had work featured in Sports Illustrated, ESPN.com, USA Today, NBC Sports, Forbes, NFL.com, Yahoo! Sports, The Wall Street Journal, The Dallas Morning News, Houston Chronicle, Denver Post, Washington Post, and others.
